Belleville’s Bicentennial Park Neighborhood Welcomes All!
The Bicentennial Park neighborhood is mostly made up of single-family homes with a few multi-family homes mixed in. The homes nearest to the park were mainly built in the early 1950’s; bordering what used to be the Angler’s Club and is now Bicentennial Park. While the homes on West ‘A’ St. were built in the early 1900’s and were mostly utilized by employees of the old Stag Brewery as well as the Brick Foundry.
Oliver C. Joseph Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Hoernis Auto Body, Your Choice Automotive, and Liese Lumber are all thriving businesses located in the neighborhood. They also border an area called Mid Towne Belleville where shops of all sort line Main St.
Lindenwood University currently enrolls approximately 2,300 students and offers 30 different undergraduate and graduate degree options with an abundance of student housing throughout the campus and neighborhood.
Belleville Township High School West is a state-of-the-art campus located on 113 acres.
Union School, a public primary school, was recently awarded the National School of Character.
These great schools are all located in and around this neighborhood!
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Agape Family Christian Center, and Wilkerson Chapel-African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) are strategically placed to accommodate anyone.
Enjoy one of the city’s newest parks located at 4811 Belleville Crossing; this is the main entrance off of the newly created S. 17th St. extension. A second entrance will soon be located off of S. 23rd St. within the neighborhood itself. The park is forty-three acres of gorgeous trees, trails and lakes. You won’t find basketball or tennis courts but native plant gardens, nature trails, and fishing piers. It is a park where boy and girl scouts, students, and teachers come to learn and teach biology or horticulture. Take a walk on the many wooded trails and throw a wave to the avid bird watcher you meet or the Lindenwood track team getting a morning run in. Finally, take a well deserved rest under the wedding gazebo while taking in the beauty of the nature gardens.
