Belleville children attend a total of 20 private, Catholic or public elementary schools, four junior high schools, four public, Catholic or private high schools, and several Catholic grade schools and private schools.
High Schools
There are four high schools in Belleville. Althoff Catholic High School, Belleville East High School and Belleville West High School, both of which are in Belleville High School District #201, and Governor French Academy.
Elementary Schools
Belle Valley School District #119 offers grades Pre-K through 8.
Belleville School District #118 offers nine elementary and two junior high schools.
Harmony-Emge School District #175 has three schools offering different grade levels: Pre-K, K – 4, and 5 – 8.
Signal Hill School District #181 offers Pre-K through 8.
Whiteside School District #115 offers an elementary school and a middle school with Pre-K through 8.

Notre Dame Academy
Effective Fall of 2015, St. Mary – St. Augustine merged with Cathedral to become Notre Dame Academy.
Cathedral offers grades 5 – 8.
St. Mary – St. Augustine offers grades Pre-K through 4 and Public School Religion (PSR) classes.
Our Lady Queen of Peace exists to provide pre-kindergarten through eighth grade parishioners an opportunity to grow in faith through a total educational experience which emphasizes academic excellence, personal responsibility and service within a Catholic faith community.
St. Teresa, an integral component of St. Teresa Parish, serves the community by passing on the Catholic faith and values while immersing students in grades K – 8 within a Christ-centered environment.

Governor French Academy
Governor French Academy, located in downtown Belleville, is a private grammar and college-preparatory school for grades K – 12.

Southwestern Illinois College
Southwestern Illinois University (SWIC) is home to Southern Illinois’ most extensive college and junior college network. Here students can achieve their Associates Degree while saving money on their first two years of college. SWIC also provides many certification programs as well as high school equivalency certification.
